The hype machine seems to be getting into full swing before the release of Google's augmented reality glasses. I for one am looking forward to them. I can image bookmakers will be very interested to offer their customers a live betting feed to upcoming sporting events. For keeping an eye on the latest horse racing prices I think it will be very useful.
If I had a pair this week I'd be following the Cheltenham Festival on them at work. Productivity would have nosedived
I'd would definitely use them for sports scores. It would be great to get updates on cricket or tennis matches without having to take your phone out of your pocket.
I would love if jockeys or football players wore Google Glass and you were able to watch the race or see the game from their perspective. That would be awesome.
I'm surprised Google hasn't sponsored some soccer players to wear Google Glass yet. Maybe there is some health and safety issue. A rough tackle might send glass spraying everywhere.
You're also forgetting that in soccer players need to be able to header the ball. Having a mini computer strapped to your head my impeded on that ability slightly.
I think Google Glass would be useful if you are horse or dog racing. The geo-location sensor should be able to pick up which racecourse you are at and offer you live odds on the next race. If you are in a bar or at home watching any sports, there will be a game recognition sensor that will will identify what you are watching and give you the latest live in-play betting odds. Paddy Power already use this technology in their Premier League app so it shouldn't be too hard to integrate into their Google Glass app.
has the apple watch eclipsed google glass now? most of the media focus has switched to the more socially acceptable apple wearable gizmo. i'm still not sure how i feel about wearing a camera on my face.
Google Glass is still quiet a niche product that currently only attracts technology types. Maybe this will change in future versions when the technology has been refined a little. Apple are aiming for the mass market with its Apple Watch so its undoubtably going to attract more attention once it's released in early 2014.
Does anyone think Google Glass has a future how that Google have effectively killed off the wearable device? I know they say that they're working on the next version but this sounds like it's just a way to save face. I know Betfair were in the process of developing a bookmaker app for Google Glass which I presume won't happen now. I guess everyone will just switch their attention to the Apple Watch now.
google are reportedly releasing a new version of google glass but it will be aimed more at professionals like doctors who might find lots of practical uses for it in a hospital setting.
