I found an interesting article this morning that paints a pretty positive outlook for mobile gambling in the United States and Europe. Here are some of the main points....
    • Online gambling is now legal in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey.
    • Within the next 2 years, half the population in the United States will live in or near a state where online and mobile gambling is legal.
    • The global online gambling market looks set to grow from $22 billion to $28 billion over the next 3 years.
    • Mobile gambling is the future, with more and more players moving from desktop to mobile options.
    • Mobile gambling will account for almost 2/3 of the online betting market in Europe within the next 5 years.
    • Half of all mobile gambling is currently done on Apple iOS phones and tablets. This figure will drop to 30% over the next year due to the increasing popularity of Android smartphones and tablets.

about bloody time. i really hoped following obama's election he would move to undo some of the damage done by the bush administration with The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. unfortunately he's been a disappointment in that regard but thankfully individual states are taking things into their own hands. people are going to gamble in the united states regardless so i'd rather see the taxes generated going to the united states government rather than to panama or elsewhere.

Republican New York Congressman Peter King introduced a bill to congress last week to legalize online poker. Fingers crossed it will have a little more success than previous efforts.

Unfortunately it seems that the great gambling experiment in New Jersey looks set to fail. Tax revenue has fallen well short of expectations, which will seriously hamper the chances of other states being able to convince their legislators to regulate mobile poker and casinos within their borders.

I think expectations might have been a little too high in New Jersey. It is still early days and once they've fixed some of the initial teething problems it might actually prove to be a success in its second or third year.

I really hope more people start using bitcoin and then people will be able to gamble freely and anonymously in the United States, Saudi Arabia or any other country where there are real money gambling restrictions.

Google Play have approved apps from fantasy gambling sites FanDuel and DraftKings in the US. This appears to be a turnaround on their policy to not promote apps that facilitate gambling. Not that they've made an exception for these sites it will be interesting if they slowly begin to allow other legal mobile sports betting or mobile poker app into Google Play.

it looks like New York has kicked out both fanduel and draftkings. it was only a matter of time before some states stopped these fantasy gambling sites. the question is will other states follow and ban fantasy sports betting.

Unless the government of the USA adopts a reasonable approach to online gambling in the next 5 years I predict that many US based sports bettors and poker players will move to bitcoin gambling sites that are completely anonymous. If that happens then the potential tax dollars internet gambling sites could contribute to the US economy will be lost forever.

aren't fantasy gambling sites like draftkings getting banned in some US state after another? legalization of online gambling in the U.S. is still 20 years away.

Senator Tom Cotton is now trying to get online gambling prohibited on a federal level. The new bill if enacted will outlaw sports betting, casinos and poker rooms throughout America.
