Like most people I have been following the various trials and tribulations of Bitcoin over the past year. On the plus side Bitcoin bank machines now exist in many countries and a growing number of online retailers and gambling companies accept Bitcoin as a method of payment. On the flip side the value of the virtual currency has been fluctuating wildly and a number of exchanges have been hacked which has resulted in ordinary people losing all their savings. My real interest in Bitcoin is as a method to deposit funds in the growing number of Android poker sites and casinos that are now Bitcoin friendly. I have a few queries first that I'm hoping someone can answer to help put my mind at ease... Is is legal to use Bitcoin for online gambling in the United States? Is is 100% anonymous. If I use it to play real-money poker on my phone in the United States can I be sure that my identity will be protected? What are the transaction charges for each deposit compared to credit cards? When will the value of the currency stop fluctuating so much? I think our current banking system in the US is broken and corrupt so I really hope that Bitcoin succeeds but at the moment I'm still a little nervous about making the leap into this brave new world.
