So my wife recently wanted to buy a tablet for herself. I did my best to convince her to buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 but it the end she ended up buying a Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet because she though it would sync up better her Microsoft Windows 8 PC. Despite my initial reservations it's actually quiet a good machine once you get used to the Windows Phone OS. The battery life is very good and having a couple of USB ports is useful if you use it for work related stuff. Anyway, I know most poker rooms only develop real money apps for iPhone, Android and iPad but I was wondering if there was any way that I could play Texas Hold'em cash games or poker tournaments on the Windows tablet?
Hi Spencer Since this is an Android discussion forum we're not really experts on real-money poker apps for Windows Phone devices but we'll try to answer your questions. I found this site called Windows Phone Poker that lists the mobile poker sites that are compatible with Nokia Lumia tablest and phones. Since none of the online poker rooms have developed native poker apps for WP, you a currently limited to the following browser based web apps: Carbon Poker, mFortune, Terminal Poker and Switch Poker. From these 4 the answer is pretty straightforward, we would recommend Carbon Mobile for the following reasons. TERMINAL POKER - CLOSED Play a variety of Texas Hold'em and Omaha cash games. TerminalPoker is compatible with any type of mobile device, including Lumias. Compete in fast fold poker games at a variety of speed. Sign-up today and start playing with a 200% welcome bonus. IGNITION U.S. POKER - IGNITIONCASINO.EU Ignition Casino is the new home for Bovada Poker after they were forced to remove poker from the Bovada website. It is the ONLY real money poker app that welcomes players from the United States. If you live in the U.S. then this is currently the only app that will allow you to play Texas Holdem cash games. Ignition Poker works on any type of iOS, Android or Windows Phone device, including iPhone, iPad, Nokia Lumia, Samsung Galaxy, HTC DROID, Sony Xperia, Motorola DROID, Google Nexus etc. Play Texas Hold'em No Limit/Fixed Limit cash games or high-speed turbo poker. Take part in Sit & Go tournaments. MTT's will be added shortly. No geographic restrictions. The Igntion (AKA Bovada) Poker app can be played from any country in the world. Like Google, Microsoft do not allow gambling apps to be listed in their Windows Phone App Store so you won't find Carbon Poker there. Instead you'll first need to create an account at Bodog/Bovada on your desktop and then browse to m.carbonpoker.ag on your Nokia Lumia (or any type of smartphone with a browser) in order to login. Bovada Mobile Poker is currently optimised for iOS and Android devices so you many get a message saying that your browser is not supported but please ignore this and continue logging in. We've tested it on a Nokia Lumia 930 here in the office and it worked fine. You can find reviews of the other Windows Phone compatible sites here http://www.windowsphonepoker.com/real-money-apps.html Hope that helped
Thanks, the Carbon Poker app works pretty good on my wife's Windows Phone 8 tablet. I also tried in on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and even though it has a much smaller screen, it was still pretty easy to play. I'm not sure how great the gameplay would be on the miniscule iPhone screen though. Why don't some of the larger online poker rooms like PokerStars, Full Tilt or PartyPoker develop browser based versions of their desktop clients that will work on a Nokia Lumia or a BlackBerry Z30 also?
I think it's only a matter of time before some of the big guns like PokerStars develop browser based poker apps because I sure they must be sick of trying to get their iOS app approved by Apple in individual countries. It looks like BlackBerry is finished so I can't seem anyone developing a native app for that Operating System but Windows Phone 8 devices seem to be gaining in popularity so maybe someone will develop a native app for Nokia Lumia. I do find it quiet strange that Zynga Poker and World Series of Poker haven't developed play-for-free apps for Windows mobile devices. Windows Phone is out selling iPhone in many countries and Zynga in particular really need to do something to attract new players in order to stop their share price slipping even further.
Do any of the Windows Phone poker apps accept Bitcoin? Sometimes the credit card deposit and withdrawals feels are outlandish so I'd like to try a real money app with a Bitcoin cashier.
The only Windows Phone compatible poker room that accepts Bitcoin is www.SwitchPoker.com Sadly real-money players from the United States are not welcome. The app offers Texas Hold'em cash games and can be played from any smartphone browser.
mFortune have always claimed that their Texas Hold'em app would work on 99% of phones so I guess there is a very good chance it will also work on an Nokia or Microsoft Lumia phone or tablet. You'll find install instructions as well as a full list of features here http://www.androidbettingapps.com/mfortune-poker-for-ios-blackberry-windows-phone-and-android.html
I'm thinking about buying a Microsoft Lumia tablet as soon as the new Windows 10 comes out. Will all these app still work on Windows Phone 10 devices?
Yes, any apps that work on Windows Phone 8 or 9 will automatically be compatible with WP 10. However back compatibility is not guaranteed so there is no guarantee that apps developed for the latest Microsoft OS will work on older models.
No, if you want to play either PokerStars or Full Tilt on your phone you need to have either an iPhone or an Android like a Sony Xperia, LG, Samsung etc.
mBit Casino now offer bitcoin only ring games and tournaments. Their app is HTML5 based so it can be played from the browser of any Nokia or Microsoft Lumia tablet or phone. mBit welcome real-money gamblers from the United States. Here's a full list of all the poker apps features plus set-up instructions for mobile devices. http://forums.androidbettingapps.co...bitcoin-mobile-poker-on-your-phone-in-the-USA
Why would you want to play at a bitcoin poker room unless you are living in the U.S. and you didn't have any other real-money options? What are the benefits?
Betcoin offers a lot of benefits to online and mobile poker players. Obviously its anonymity is very advantageous to players in the USA and other countries that have banned online poker. The key benefits for the rest of the world is the lower rake and free cash-outs. If you're a poker pro and you want to hide your winnings from the IRS or Inland Revenue then bitcoin poker is also a great option for you.
In the US they are trying to close FanDuel and DraftKings now. Pretty soon most online sportsbooks and poker rooms in the United States will use bitcoin.
The latest online poker room to develop a Windows Phone poker app is PartyPoker. PartyPoker Mobile can now be downloaded from the Windows Phone app store. It offers real money Texas Hold'em cash games.
It doesn't mention any restriction on the app store page so I'm guessing it's available in most countries apart from the US http://forums.androidbettingapps.co...st-nokia-lumia-windows-phone-poker-apps.6859/
